Video games publication EGM NOW has been shut down.

The announcement was made on Twitter by the site’s associate editor Michael Goroff.

“I received word on Monday that EGMNOW has shut down, which means I’ve been laid off,” he said.

The EGMNOW team included editorial director Josh Harmon, executive editor Mollie L Patterson, and news editor Matthew Bennett.

The site’s owner hasn’t released an official statement about its closing. The last published article on EGMNOW was on January 25.

EGM originally shut down in 2009, but the magazine’s founder Steve Harris purchased its rights, and it relaunched in March 2010.

Gaming media has been hit with a wave of layoffs; yesterday The Washington Post shuddered its gaming section.

In recent months job cuts have happened at IGN, Polygon, GameByte, Game Informer, Future, Fanbyte, Vice, and G4.

Last week saw layoffs at GameSpot and Giant Bomb, with another round of firings at Polygon parent Vox Media.
