Vudu Will Soon Become Fandango At Home

Vudu has come a long way since its initial days as a box used for movie purchases, evolving into a streaming service and digital vault for movies. It was bought by Fandango Media in 2020 and it looks like it’s headed for another rebranding.

The company announced today that it will be renamed Fandango At Home, but subscribers shouldn’t worry as their digital libraries and purchases will be transferred over–which doesn’t always happen with these types of mergers. Subscribers received an email reassuring them that this change “won’t affect your streaming experience and your library right where it is.”

Fandango had another service called FandangoNOW which was shuttered and replaced with Vudu, which kept digital libraries in place at the time as well. That was just three years ago. There’s no word on a timeline for an actual integration but could be within the next few months.

Fandango Media also owns Rotten Tomatoes after a purchase from Time Warner and used to own Flixster, before closing it down as well as UltraViolet in 2019.
