FF7 Rebirth Exclusivity Window Will Only Last Three Months

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will remain a PlayStation 5 exclusive for just three months, though when other versions might release is still unknown.

As IGN noted, a footnote during the game’s September State of Play trailer read “not available on other formats at least until May 29, 2024.” Since Rebirth releases on February 29, 2024, that means Sony’s deal with Square Enix grants three months of exclusivity. When PC or Xbox versions might launch is entirely up to speculation.

Final Fantasy VII Remake released April 2020 followed by the PS5 upgrade, Intergrade, in June 2021. The PC version was then released later that December. Remake has yet to make it to Microsoft’s console, though Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently teased in an interview with IGN that both Rebirth and Remake may see future releases there.

The trailer shown off at the September State of Play announced Rebirth’s release date and showed off many significant scenes from the trilogy’s second chapter. Characters like Cait Sith and Vincent Valentine made their first appearances, as well as locations like Kalm, Junon, and the Golden Saucer. Square Enix also announced that Rebirth will lead up to the Forgotten Capital, presumably with some surprises along the way.
