Bob Odenkirk’s Next TV Show After Better Call Saul Gets Teaser, Release Date

After starring on AMC’s Breaking Bad and its spinoff Better Call Saul, Bob Odenkirk is staying in business with the network for another show, Lucky Hank. AMC has now announced the show’s release date and published a teaser trailer that shows a glimpse of what to expect.

Lucky Hank, formerly known as Straight Man, will premiere on March 19. The eight-episode series follows Odenkirk’s character, an English department chairman named Hank, as he undergoes a mid-life crisis at a “badly underfunded college in the Pennsylvania rust belt.”

“I’ve always been a difficult man. I specialize in minor strife and insignificant irritation. That’s my lane,” Odenkirk’s Hank says in the teaser video. A goose walks into the scene as the video ends, and anyone who has read the book the series is based on will know why. Check it out below.

The series is based on Richard Russo’s 1997 novel Straight Man. It also features Mireille Enos as Hank’s wife and Olivia Scott Welch as his daughter.

Aaron Zelman (Damages) and Paul Liberstein (The Office) are its showrunners, while Odenkirk is an executive producer. Lucky Hank is Odenkirk’s first live-action TV show since Better Call Saul ended in 2022.

As for the wider Breaking Bad universe, no new TV shows or movies have been announced. However, series creator Vince Gilligan is making a new show for Apple TV+ featuring Better Call Saul’s Rhea Seehorn.
