It’s hard to believe the live-action Transformers franchise is coming up on seven installments, but that’s exactly what the latest release, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will mark when it rolls out into theaters in 2023. Until now, we’ve only had some teaser images and plot details to work from when trying to figure out exactly what’s in store for us in this Beast Wars-inspired movie, but that all changes today. The first trailer for Rise of the Beasts is finally here and you can watch it right now.

In the trailer we get our first looks at the live-action redesigns for the Maximals, including Optimus Primal, Cheetor, and Rhinox as well as the newly re-designed Mirage and Arcee. Both Mirage and Arcee were, technically, featured in Michael Bay’s Transformers movies (though Mirage was also called “Dino”), but they were close to unrecognizable compared to their cartoon and comic book counterparts, however. We even get to see a brief moment of Mirage using the abilities that give him his namesake, creating duplicates of himself to throw off the police on a chase.

Also featured in the trailer is Optimus Primal’s voice, performed by Ron Perlman, through his fellow Maximals are still mysteriously silent.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts stars Anthony Ramos as Noah, Dominique Fishback as Elena, and features the return of Peter Cullen to yet again voice Optimus Prime. Pete Davidson will be voicing Mirage, who in the original cartoon was an F1 racer but is now a Porsche. Ron Perlman will provide the voice for Optimus Primal and Michelle Yeoh will voice Airazor, a robotic falcon.

Rise of the Beasts is scheduled to hit theaters on June 9, 2023.
