Mayor of Kingstown actor Jeremy Renner sustained significant injuries on New Year’s Day when he was helping save someone caught in deep snow. Photos from the ICU showed major wounds on Renner’s face. He is now out of the hospital and recovering at home, and Paramount+ is making a change to Mayor of Kingstown key art out of respect for Renner’s situation.

As spotted by The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ has altered the promo art for Mayor of Kingstown Season 2. It used to show Renner’s face with major injuries, but now that Renner has sustained very similar-looking injuries in real life, the network has made changes to the art. Renner’s character’s face still looks bruised, but it is toned down. Check out a comparison in the image below.

Mayor of Kingstown co-creator Hugh Dillon told THR of the changes, “It’s good of the network. Everybody is sensitive to Jeremy.”

Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 premiered on January 15. Renner confirmed on Twitter that he watched the season premiere at home–not in the hospital–with his family. He’s still recovering, as Renner said he continues to experience “brain fog” from the event.

Renner was using a snowplowing tractor to help a motorist stranded in three feet of snow on a private road near Lake Tahoe on New Year’s Day when his own vehicle, a seven-ton Pistenbully, ran him over. The stranded motorist was a family member.

Local authorities said it was merely an accident and that no foul play is suspected, nor is there reason to believe Renner was impaired in any way at the time. First responders didn’t get to the scene for more than 30 minutes due to a recent snowstorm that dropped three feet of snow the night prior.

Renner is a two-time Oscar nominee, known for his roles in The Hurt Locker and The Town. In the MCU, he plays Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye.
